She is known for her shapely curves and has famously spoken out against Hollywood’s obsession with super-skinny women.
But Catherine Zeta-Jones, who once declared that she could ‘eat for Wales’, stepped out last week looking noticeably slimmer than normal after appearing on Broadway in a revival of A Little Night Music.
Chatting to fans and signing autographs after her performance in New York on Friday, the actress wore a simple black shift dress that appeared to drown her figure and revealed her thin arms and legs.

The Welsh star, 40, is normally happy to flaunt her voluptuous curves on the red carpet and tends to choose gowns with plunging necklines that emphasise her waist and hips.
But it appears her stage performances have left her rather leaner and more toned.
Her weight is known to fluctuate and at her heaviest she is said to have been 13 stone.

When she was expecting her first child, Dylan, now nine, with her actor husband Michael Douglas, she allowed her weight to balloon, and she famously accepted her 2003 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Chicago when she was nine months pregnant with daughter Carys.
She later lost her pregnancy pounds by doing tough dance routines.
In the past, Zeta-Jones has spoken out against ‘scary’ Hollywood women who bow to pressure to lose weight, particularly after having a baby.
She has said: ‘I think it’s awful, this competition between actresses who just had a baby to see who’s first to get back to their normal weight. It’s insane. I find this wave of super-skinny women scary.’
But after being pictured looking thin in 2007, she had to deny reports that she was anorexic. She said her weight loss was a result of eating well.
She said at the time: ‘How could I ever, ever be anorexic? I’m just working out and not chomping down what I usually chomp down.’
Zeta-Jones is not the first actress to shed weight while appearing on the stage. Last year, Katie Holmes was pictured looking gaunt while performing in a production of All My Sons. She attributed her leanness to her workload.
Zeta-Jones has won rave reviews in the US for her role as Desiree in A Little Night Music, which is her Broadway debut. Critics have described her performances as ‘luminous’ and ‘mesmerising’.
The show opened in December and tickets to see her on stage have changed hands on auction website eBay for up to £180.
